Front Line Technology

Our skilled medical and surgical professionals employ leading edge medical technology as part of the Central Florida Blood Preservation Program. This technology includes:

  • Volume Expanders, intravenous fluids that enhance the circulation of a patient's own blood without the use of donor blood or blood products.
  • Synthetic Erythropoietin, a pharmaceutical that stimulates bone marrow to produce red blood cells and hemostatic agents promote coagulation.
  • Intra-Operative Blood Salvage (Cell Saver) and Hemodilution, processes that salvage, filter and recirculate the patient's own non-stored blood.
  • Harmonic Scalpel, Lasers and Electrocautery, devices used during surgery to reduce blood loss. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy delivers oxygen under increased pressure to improve tissue oxygenation.
  • Transcutaneous Oxygen Monitoring and Pulse Oximetry, which track oxygen levels during surgery and hyperbaric oxygen treatment in a non-invasive manner.
  • Blood Conservation Techniques, which include lowering the patient's blood pressure and temperature during surgery and using micro-sampling techniques to reduce the amount of blood in specimens needed for analytic testing.
