Center for Diabetes Education

Giving patients the skills to get the most out of life

More than 20.8 million people in the United States suffer from diabetes; with another 6.2 million unaware they have the disease, making it the sixth leading cause of death. The Wuesthoff Center for Diabetes Education gives patients with diabetes the resources to manage their disease and live healthier lives.

Wuesthoff's diabetes education program is certified by the Diabetes Association and Rita Jain, M.D., a board-certified endocrinologist, is the medical director. The multidisciplinary team includes you, your physician, a registered nurse with more than 15 years of experience and a registered dietitian who also is a licensed dietitian/nutritionist and a diabetes educator.

Classes and support group meetings are offered in both Melbourne and Viera during daytime or evening hours. Educational classes also are available for gestational diabetes.

Guidance on meal planning, exercise, medications, monitoring of blood sugar and other topics gives patients added control over their disease.
