Wuesthoff Health System is Moving Toward a
Tobacco-Free Work Environment
In February we launched our campaign to create a tobacco-free environment.
Together with Health First and Parrish Medical Center, Wuesthoff is partnering to
implement tobacco-free campuses by November 20, 2008. This initiative will be dedicated
to providing a healthy, comfortable, and healing environment for staff, patients, volunteers,
physicians, and visitors. As our policy will describe, tobacco use will be prohibited
inside or outside of Wuesthoff buildings and property.
You can start now to "kick the habit" by engaging in any or all of the following
programs/services:
- "Quit Smoking Now" smoking cessation classes are conducted by Cardiac Rehab, and associates may call 636-2052 for an appointment.
- Members of Wuesthoff's health plan through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida can now purchase the stop smoking drug called Chantix for $25 with a prescription.
- Human Resources has "Quit Assist" guides with information that can help you succeed when you quit smoking.
- The FLIP Wellness Program offers a variety of options to help Wuesthoff associates maintain good health, shed pounds and learn how to manage stress.
We recognize that tobacco use is harmful to the health of the user and to the health of
those who may be affected by secondary smoke. The goal to improve the health and
quality of life of the individuals and communities we serve. We will continue to
spread the word as we move closer to November 20th.
